The Rise Academy Story
Rise Academy is a transitional program in San Antonio that helps unhoused individuals build job skills, earn credentials, and reconnect with community. When we heard they were planning a graduation ceremony but couldn't afford professional photography, we showed up with our full kit — lights, backdrop, and the same care we bring to every portrait session we charge for.
What we saw that day changed how we think about photography. Watching someone who hadn't owned a professional portrait in years hold one for the first time — that's why we do this.
How We Give Back

Graduation Portraits for Unhoused Individuals
Every year, we partner with local shelters and outreach programs to photograph graduation ceremonies for unhoused individuals who have earned their GED, completed job training, or finished certification programs. A graduation portrait is a dignity document. We believe everyone deserves one.

Free Teacher Headshots
Teachers are professionals. Their school websites and LinkedIn profiles should look like it. We offer complimentary professional headshots to teachers at every school we photograph — not as a footnote, but as a core part of our service. Your staff walks in looking like teachers. They walk out looking like the professionals they are.

Student Photography Classes
We run free photography workshops for students in underserved San Antonio schools. Participants get hands-on time with professional cameras, learn composition basics, and leave with a print of their best shot. For some students, this is their first time holding a professional camera.

Nonprofit Collaborations
We partner with San Antonio nonprofits, shelters, and community organizations to provide portrait photography for their events, fundraisers, and annual reports. Professional photography helps nonprofits tell their story more powerfully — and we want to help with that.

We host quarterly roundtables for San Antonio school coordinators, directors, and education leaders. No agenda — just peer connection, shared challenges, and community building. Good picture days start with connected communities.

Our revenue-sharing model turns picture day into a fundraiser for every school we work with. We also partner with specific fundraising campaigns, donating a portion of picture day revenue to school causes — new library books, field trips, technology upgrades.
